Simon Tolhurst
I'm originally from Stalybridge, Cheshire, but moved to London in 1991 after completing my degree in Fine Art. During the last twenty years I have exhibited my work in group and solo exhibitions in a wide range of London venues, from contemporary and commercial galleries to upmarket hotels and warehouse raves.
I've also taught life drawing, portrait drawing and still life painting at the University of London and I have three large scale artworks installed permanently in the University of London Union (ULU) building following a project in 2005 based on fifty portraits of students at the University.
In 2007 I was a finalist in the Saatchi Gallery's "Showdown" competition and my winning artwork "Dimitra" has been on display at the Saatchi Gallery since 2008.
My work is held in private collections in this country and abroad, including France, Italy, Germany, Greece and the USA.
